Magic or spycraft? In 1953, versus the background of the Cold War, the CIA started a top-secret program, code-named MKULTRA, to counter Soviet mind-control and interrogation strategies. Understanding that private officers may require to discreetly release freshly established tablets, potions, and powders versus the foe, the CIA employed America’s most popular magician, John Mulholland, to compose 2 handbooks on deception and undercover interaction methods.
In 1973, essentially all files associated with MKULTRA were damaged. Mulholland’s handbooks were believed to be amongst them– up until a single making it through copy of each, total with illustrations, was just recently found in the firm’s archives.
The handbooks reprinted in this work represent the just recognized total copy of Mulholland’s guidelines for CIA officers on the magician’s art of deceptiveness and secret interactions.
